The business landscape is changing. There’s evidence to suggest that women are playing a large role in shaping the future of entrepreneurship. From CEOs to COOs, women are increasingly taking on leadership roles and attaining new heights of success in their respective fields.

The last few decades have seen a lot of positive changes in terms of opportunities for, and representations of, women in the world of business. So, is it any surprise then those all-female businesses are poised to soon become a norm in a world previously dominated by men?

A cornerstone of this revolution is Priyanka who launched The Kitsch Box as a solopreneur. The Kitsch Box has been revolutionizing the handmade gifting business. This homegrown brand offers its customers personalized gifting options like passport covers, wallets, makeup pouches, laptop covers, mousepads, travel organizers, cardholders and much more. You can also find personalized greeting cards for any occasion such as birthdays, anniversaries, marriages and so on.

The Kitsch Box: Thoughtful Gifting Made Easy

Incorporated in 2017, with an initial investment of only Rs. 4,000, Priyanka started The Kitsch Box when she was just 25 years old.

“Personally, I love giving and receiving gifts. I just love the idea of making unique handmade gifts for my friends for any occasion. I have been doing this on a personal scale for a long time and I wanted to turn this into my passion project. I started uploading my work on Instagram and orders started pouring in. And that’s how my business picked up and grew into what it is today.” says Priyanka.

While the brand is based in Coimbatore, it generates orders from all over the country thanks to its e-commerce outlet. They also ship their products across the length and breadth of the country which gives the brand a national presence. At The Kitsch Box, everything is very thoughtfully curated and it’s all made in small batches which helps in maintaining high quality of each product.

Custom gift hamper curation can be done based on client requests. The brand has fulfilled more than 10,000 orders to date and has also served prestigious corporate clients like the Tata Group.

Onwards and Upwards

“Our growth has been steady and consistent. In the initial stages, I was a solo entrepreneur and used to manage every aspect of the business from product making, packaging, logistics, customer support, marketing etc. However, as time passed by the number of orders steadily grew and I got a small all women team. With the help of my team, we could complete more and more orders at one time. We never faced a point where there was a sudden growth spurt as it would have been difficult for us to manage this within a short period. So, I am glad that we have a sure but steady growth,” explains Priyanka.
