Safa Abdussalam, a mompreneur and a psychologist by profession started her venture ‘Ilham Educational Toys’ in 2021 with a mission to replace screentime with toys that would not only make the kids engaged but help in their cognitive development as well.

Little did Safa know when she gave birth to her baby boy named ‘Ilham’, that in two years it would be the brand name of a venture that she would develop from scratch. When her little boy Ilham stepped into toddlerhood, she realised the lack of age-appropriate toys for cognitive development in the market. After reading parenting journals and research from experts she learnt that toys being the prime comfort of a child could play the biggest role in their overall development. So, she started exploring more toys that could help in their fine and gross motor developments . To her disappointment, it was difficult to find toys that would make the child entertained and also at the same time contribute to their physical and mental growth. As we know, it isn’t easy to develop such toys, especially when the clients are little humans who always eye on things that are bright and noisy. So, as a psychologist herself she carefully studied the likes and dislikes of her son and the children around her, their needs, mood patterns and how to apply emotional intelligence through these toys and more. Finally, she decided to launch her own products, that too in the name of her son ‘Ilham’ which means inspiration. Inspiring other moms not just through words, but through her thoughtful products, Safa tries to bring a mindset shift in modern parents from having a room full of colourful toys to cautiously choosing few right toys.
